Capri, a beautiful island on the Amalfi Coast of Italy. Once Emperor Augustus' Private resort and now a lovely vacation spot for the tourist.
If you are in Italy then you must definitely visit this island, for a relaxing and amazing experience.
I was here for about 2 days and loved every single moment of it. I wish I would have spent a little more time, anyways this place has given me a lot of reasons to visit again.
How to get there?
Capri can be reached by number of ports around the island. You can catch a ferry from Naples, Sorrento and Positano. We caught slow ferry from Naples, which took us almost 1 hr 20 min to reach Capri and costed around €17. You can also catch high speed ferries which takes 50 min from Naples to Capri and costs a little extra.
What to see in Capri?
Being a little pretty island, Capri has a lot to offer you than you can ever imagine.
Blue Grotto
A trip to Capri is always incomplete, if you have not visited Blue Grotto. Unfortunately, on my trip to Capri, Blue Grotto was closed, because of high tides. Well, this is one of the reasons, which is pushing me to plan my next trip soon.
But, if you are here on a perfect weather, then don't miss this site. Blue Grotto, is accessible only by rowing boat, and gives a spectacular view of the blue hues, created by the refraction of sunlight.
Island Boat Tour
We successfully missed the Blue Grotto, but we had another option and that was a round trip of the island by speed boat. You can get a private or a group boat from the Marina Grande and you can always try a little bargaining to get a good price (at least we got one!).
In this 2 hour trip, you can see this island from a different perspective. Obviously, Blue Grotto is not the only one, there are many other like White, Green and Coral.
Anacapri
Anacapri, located at the higher altitude of Capri. You can catch a mini bus from the Capri Town to reach Anacapri in 15 min. The main street is mainly aligned by the Souvenirs shops which are a little costly but the natural see shells, stars etc are so beautiful, that I couldn't stop myself from buying them.
Seggiovia del Monte Solaro
Located at the highest peak of Anacapri, Monte Solaro gives breathtaking views of the island. Just hop on the chairlift from the center of Anacapri and enjoy your pleasant ride.
There is also a cafe on top where you can relax for some time and grab a cup of coffee, while you enjoy the view.
Capri Town
I always believe that one has never experienced the real essence of a place, until they have not walked around the local streets and have not interacted with the locals, or have not traveled in the local buses.
When it comes to Capri, the streets are like maze, very thin, yet beautiful. The trees and colorful flowers outside every house, just brings a smile on my face.

The locals here are very charming, even if there is language problem, they are always ready to help.
We somehow broke the key of our house(which we booked online) and an unknown couple who could barely speak English, helped us to get a locksmith and get back into our house!!!

What to buy?
Capri is famous for its handmade sandals. Just walk into a sandal shop, where a cobbler will measure your feet and all you need to do is choose the strap and within an hour, your sandals will be ready.
Another must buy from this beautiful island is a bottle of artisan-made perfume. Take home the divine smell for yourself and your loved ones.
