Weekend Getaway - 3 day trip to Paris

“Voyager est la meilleure thérapie” – Travelling is the best therapy.

Everyone needs a break from their work and a short vacation from daily routine can uplift your mood and fill you up with positive energy so that you can work again with full enthusiasm.

Well, every person’s dream on earth is to visit Paris at least once in their lifetime and so was mine. Last month, I had an amazing 3 day vacation in Paris.
Although it’s impossible to discover all of Paris within three days, still I tried to utilize each and every second of it!!!

If you are also planning for a break, then this summer Paris is a must visit. This blog will help you in planning the amazing short 3 day trip to Paris- what to see, history and importance of every monument.

Best time to visit Paris

The perfect time to visit Paris is from June to August. This is also the time when the Paris is most crowded and most expensive. If you are visiting in this period then be prepared to pay a little extra everywhere!!

Day 1 – Paris:

Arc de Triomphe:

As soon as I saw the Arc from the distance, I was like “WOW!” The architecture of this iconic monument is really mesmerizing. The Arc is located on the right bank of the river Seine.

When the Grande Armee, of the Napoleon, conquered most of the Europe, he wanted to honour them. Napoleon said to his soldiers : "You will return home through archs of triumph".

The names and places on the arch are of the French generals and army victories.

You can visit the rooftop of the Arc for an excellent city view. The admission fees is between €9 to €12 for different age groups and size of group.

Louvre Museum (Musée du Louvre):

It is the world’s largest museum and a historic monument in Paris. If you are an art lover then this museum is a must see and should be in your to do list of Paris. It is the home of finest art collection- the famous Mona Lisa painting being one of them.

This museum was originally built as a fortress in around 1200 and in 1793, the French revolutionists decided to make it as the first French national museum.

Notre Dame Cathedral:

It is one of the most visited sites in Paris. The cathedral has a very beautiful interior and exterior architecture and is a treat to the eyes.

Can you believe that it took around 182 years to complete the construction!!

Avenue des Champs-Élysées:

The avenue is about 1.91 km long and is known for its theatres, cafes, and luxury shops and as the finish of the Tour de France cycle race. Every year on Bastille Day on 14 July, the largest military parade in Europe passes down the Champs-Élysées.

Though I visited Paris in July but couldn’t plan for 14th because of some personal reasons. But I have heard that it’s highly crowded at that time and if you are a lover of this and has a huge interest then you must not skip.

Paris Night Tour:

Everyone knows that Paris is also known as the City of Lights. And it is so true. Paris is magical in night, and one just cannot afford to miss it.
I was very excited for the night tour. But to my luck after a sunny day, it started raining by the night. Eeeee!!!! I hated that moment so much!!! Well, for me, even the rain could not stop me from fulfilling my wish. I hopped on a bus and started my night tour and managed to click some photographs between the drizzles.

Every building when lit up in the dark looks so iconic and is a treat to the eyes. Also, there is a glimmering lights show at Eiffel Tower, which is presented for first 5 minutes of every hour in the night, till 1am during winter and 2am during summer.
As it was raining so couldn't take good video. Here is a short clip for you guys:

Day 2:

I am a huge, huge fan of Disney!!! When you are in Paris, you should not miss Disneyland at all. It was on top of my wish list too!

No matter what is your age, your inner child will come out to play as soon as you enter the world of Disneyland Park Paris. Usually I would recommend at least a 2 day trip to Disneyland, but even if you are on a 3 day tour in Paris, you must take out 1 day off and must visit here. You can read about Disneyland Park in my earlier blog.

Day 3

Eiffel Tower:

I went to the Eiffel Tower early in the morning. If you are here on a weekend then you might find a long queue, not only for the admission tickets, but also to go to the Summit from the 2nd floor. So try, to come early so that you need not to wait for long hours.

View from the top floor of Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower was built by the French engineer Gustave Eiffel. From the top of the Eiffel Tower, Paris at 1,050 ft (320 meters) is very romantic, especially in the evening.  It was one of the world’s tallest building until 1930.

The tower comprises 18,000 metallic parts, joined together by 2.5 million rivets.

River Cruise: Bateaux Parisiens

Till now multiple times I have mentioned that Paris is magical and yet again I will say the same thing.
You can see the City of Lights in the night, you can see the 360 degree view from top of the Eiffel Tower, you can see the city by visiting individual architectural buildings and yet again there is another perspective left and that is through River Cruise

This one hour long river cruise delivers a spectacular view of this romantic city. An informative commentary in the background helps you in knowing the importance and history of every monument.

Luxembourg Gardens:

There are endless French architectures to be seen in Paris. Luxembourg Gardens present you a completely different sight of Paris. It’s beautiful highly maintained Green Park. No matter which season you are in Paris, this ravish Garden will always leave its charm. After a continuous architecture exploration, you can just sit here and relax with your friends and family while the sun sets.

As I had a flight to catch, so with a heavy heart I ended my tour here.

I wished if the time could stop there and I didn’t have to leave.

I hope even you guys visit Paris soon and have a lot of fun.

Capri - An island in Italy

Capri, a beautiful island on the Amalfi Coast of Italy. Once Emperor Augustus' Private resort and now a lovely vacation spot for the tourist. If you are in Italy then you must definitely visit this island, for a relaxing and amazing experience. I was here for about 2 days and loved every single moment of it. I wish I would have spent a little more time, anyways this place has given me a lot of reasons to visit again. How to get there? Capri can be reached by number of ports around the island. You can catch a ferry from Naples, Sorrento and Positano. We caught slow ferry from Naples, which took us almost 1 hr 20 min to reach Capri and costed around €17. You can also catch high speed ferries which takes 50 min from Naples to Capri and costs a little extra. What to see in Capri? Being a little pretty island, Capri has a lot to offer you than you can ever imagine.  Blue Grotto A trip to Capri is always incomplete, if you have not visited Blue Grotto....

Beautiful!  Yes that's what your inner voice says as soon as you enter the world of Disneyland. It's a place where even a 70 year old person will feel like a 10 year old child (Well yeah!
